As a child, I could spend hours drawing, painting and creating my own worlds. For me, creativity was a natural way of perceiving both my surroundings and myself. Nevertheless, I chose a different career path and studied economics and marketing.
After university, my career was most influenced by my work in the construction industry, where I helped build up the family business. Thanks to this, architecture, interior design and the quality of space became part of my everyday life.
Motherhood opened up a new appreciation of home, harmony and everyday beauty within me. This period also gave me the space to return to creative activities, which gradually developed into my own artistic work.
This journey began with a search for artworks for my own home. I longed for pieces that would combine contemporary aesthetics with a deeper emotional experience. I would come across either paintings that appealed to me visually, or works conveying a powerful message, but rarely both at the same time. When I couldn’t find such paintings, I began to create them myself.
Today, I create abstract paintings that interweave atmosphere with space and personal experience. I see art as a living part of an interior, and I believe that a painting can have a powerful influence on an environment and on how we feel within it.
Romana Šimáně is a Czech artist specialising in contemporary abstract painting. In her work, she combines elements of lyrical abstraction, fluid art and structural painting, with an emphasis on the atmosphere of space, light and organic forms.
She studied Economics and Marketing at Škoda Auto University. She gained professional experience in the fields of marketing, sales, nutritional counselling and, above all, the construction industry. It was precisely this constant exposure to architecture, interior design and the creation of living spaces that significantly influenced her perception of the painting as a natural part of the interior.
She has been pursuing her own artistic practice since 2020. Between 2022 and 2024, she created the extensive series *The Path of Light* for the Nobilis Hotel in Mladá Boleslav. Through five thematic collections, she
explores the motif of inner transformation – from pause and introspection to change and a new
beginning. This body of work is followed by the series ‘Whispers of the Earth’, inspired by the elements of nature and their ability to bring a connection with nature into contemporary interiors.
She lives and works in Mladá Boleslav.
In my work, I explore the connection between a painting in a specific space and emotion. I am interested in how a work of art can influence the atmosphere of a place and how it affects people in their everyday lives. I see a painting as a significant part of the environment in which people live, relax, meet and create their stories.
I work primarily with acrylic paint, fluid art techniques, relief textures and metallic pigments. I am fascinated by the dialogue between control and chance – between a carefully constructed composition and the spontaneous movement of liquid paint. It is precisely within this tension that organic forms, layers and shifts in light emerge, becoming a characteristic feature of my paintings.
I find inspiration in architecture, natural processes, light and the human need to create an environment in which we feel at ease. The series *The Path of Light* was conceived as a reflection on transformation, inner growth and the various forms of light in our lives. This is followed by the cycle *Whispers of the Earth*, which, through the five elements, explores humanity’s relationship with nature and the sense of home.
For me, abstraction is a language capable of expressing what is usually only conveyed through words.
Each painting is created as a unique original, and its atmosphere, texture, and the play of light are best experienced in person. By prior arrangement, I’d be happy to give you a tour of the “Path of Light” collection on display at the Nobilis Hotel and introduce you to other available original works. You can pick up your selected painting in person, or we can work together to choose a suitable shipping method. We always handle this on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the size of the artwork and its destination.
Each print is produced individually and, before dispatch, is signed, given a serial number (on the front of the print or on the back of the board, if framed) and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. I will pack it carefully and dispatch it approximately 10–14 working days after receipt of payment. The price includes the cost of postage and secure packaging. By prior arrangement, it is also possible to collect the item in person from the Nobilis Hotel in Mladá Boleslav, where payment can be made in cash or via QR code.
I carefully pack each painting and ship it within 5 business days of receiving payment.
If the work is currently on display at the Nobilis Hotel, it must first be replaced with another painting. The delivery time is therefore longer ‑ up to 30 days.
You can also pick up the painting in person, either directly at the Nobilis Hotel or at my place in Mladá Boleslav ‑ Bradlec, by prior arrangement.
Shipping, packaging, and insurance are charged at CZK 800.
